Their Story

Shawn & Radiant Montgomery have been married for over sixteen years. Their family connection goes back well into their childhood. In fact, Shawn’s mother was Radiant’s mother Sunday school teacher, so you can see their family bond runs deep.  

 

Having both been raised by single mothers, there was no real foundation for what marriage looked like, which forced them to figure things out on their own. Like many marriages, they experienced tough times. Their struggles in communicating with each other led to discord in the home, which was an all too familiar pattern being played out in their marriage. The dating couple who shared everything with each other had become the married couple who found it difficult to communicate with each other about anything. 

 

Their relationship with Christ, the foundation that brought them together, was becoming more distant. They were trying it their way but found that only God’s way would truly work.  

 

They struggled to find completion in each other; not knowing that the only way to obtain it was found in the Father. Through their submission to God they began to walk out the process of wholeness, they learned how to effectively communicate with and not at each other, ultimately finding their true identity as individuals, and as a couple, their relationship has grown into the marriage God had originally ordained for them.  

 

Now they live intentional lives where their relationship with God comes first and their family is their first ministry, which includes their three beautiful daughters. Part of their story is how God changed a cycle that started generations before them and turned it into a beautiful testimony of a family filled with grace and fullness.
